Akintunde Ahmad, Founder of Ade Dehye

In the middle of a pandemic, the east Oakland born fashion creator is launching an ethical and sustainable clothing line, produced entirely in West Africa.

He refers to his soon-to-be-released label @adedehye as more than just a clothing brand, but a “major economic development unfolding across west Africa”. Each piece is made by black tailors using fabrics produced by black artisans. However, that’s just the tip of the iceberg.

With two Ivy League degrees in his back pocket, Akintunde is also a multimedia journalist with a focus on the intersection of education, economic inequality, and the justice system. His written work has been featured in The Atlantic, The Appeal, Huffington Post, and MTV.
