Artist Spotlight: Gonzalo Miralles
Gonzalo Miralles was born in Santiago de Chile in 1988. In 2007, he entered to study law, and at the same time, he studied art in a self-taught way.
After he graduated with honours for the practice of the legal profession, he entered the art workshop of Eugenio Dittborn for two consecutive years (2013-2014) while doing philosophy studies focused on the investigation of the purposes of punishment; a concern arising from his professional experience within the prisons of his country.
In 2018, he assumed the position of Executive Director from Civil Society in the “Proyecto +R”, promoted by the Ministry of Justice and developed in Table No. 15 of the “Country Commitment Project” coordinated by the Ministry of Social Development, whose purpose is restructuring public policies related to the social insertion of people deprived of liberty.
In 2020, he was chosen among the 100 young leaders of the country, and in 2022, his exhibition 'Clemencia' was chosen as the best art installation of Chile by the Circle of Art Critics of Chile.
In 2023, he graduated from the Royal College of Art, London, UK, with a Master in Research in Arts and Humanities.
Nowadays, he is based in London, UK.
