Artist Spotlight: Amina Muaddi

Red bottoms are to Christian Louboutin as flared heels are to Amina Muaddi’s eponymous footwear label. The signature pyramid-shaped heel adds a touch of playfulness to the otherwise decadent designs.

The half Romanian, half Jordanian, designer grew up in Italy and always wanted a career in fashion and worked hard towards it, saying, “I admire perseverance, talent, and ambition.” At 26 she began designing shoes, working at first as co-founder and creative director of Oscar Tiye, then partnering with Alexandre Vauthier.

At 31 she decided to strike out on her own. Her brand took off at full speed and in less than two years gained cult status and the attention of A-list celebrities including Dua Lipa, Rosie Hunington-Whiteley, and, of course, Rihanna.

On July 15th Muaddi’s designs for Fenty were launched and feature a refined version of her trademark heel while losing none of the sass and edge.

“It’s been a long journey for me, I know people probably see it as a short one because I started my brand in 2018... I started my shoe journey when I was 26 years old so it’s been 7-8 years now.”
